A PROPOSAL FOR NEW MILLING COMPANY AS AN EXPANSION FOR ELIMU MILLERS BRANCH.

INTRODUCTION

The Elimu milling company has only one branch and the country today falls shortage of the precious commodity “UNGA”.

The idea is to establish another branch of Elimu millers company in a rural area where there is no industry same as this one doing milling process to produce unga.

This rural area is densely populated with UGALI lovers and this indicates a great market for the proposed company’s product.

PROBLEM STATEMENT

The country in the recent has experienced great problems with access too UNGA a nightmare for some.  People have resorted to eating other food instead of the one they love that is an unga product.  The residents of El-geiyo Marakwet county have had a lot of problems with getting this commodity called unga.

The deficit of this UNGA product has also been added by the hoarding by retailers specifically the close competitor Jamii millers but all have been not successful in curbing the demand because maize production by the large farmers in UASIN GISHU and Transzoia counties who are the suppliers of maize raw material for this millers experienced low yields due to climate change among other factors that reduced the yield of the raw material for millers.

To be able to curb the demand and capitalize on the availability of market for the product ELIMU millers is better positioned to establish a branch of its milling company at the center of Elgeiyo- Markwet.

 BENEFITS ACRUED

The creation of jobs in line with the Vision 2030 government plan is supported as the existence of the milling company will translate to Jobs for individuals in the area.

Provision of a commodity in demand serves to fill in the trade system since there are willing buyers for the product as the law of demand envisages clearly.

The residents around the area will also benefit in terms of life standard improvement since the company will put up a good CRS policy that makes the residents feel being part of the company.

The economy will improve clear and point blank since trade means progress and money exchange means profit acquired – that is economic financial progress.

The skills will also be build since employees through time will acquire the skills through training offered by the company and regular operations in the industry milling process from the farm to the final product – UNGA.

The people who are maize farmer will also have a big demanding and endless market for their maize product from the farm straight to the company for milling.

The happier the farmer the better the life of his family and the community at large.

THE PROPOSED SITE

The location of the new branch is at the center of a busy trading center along the ELdama-Ravine – Eldoret Highway which is a perfect location both close to farmers and close to market for the company’s product – UNGA.  The center boast of a population that falls in the category of semi-skilled, skilled and unskilled labourers. This means that the job pool offered by the company will be filled by the residents around the location of the company.

A farming company the Kitale Seeds Company has a farm there hence that is another big source of maize product and also a nursery for farmers on good farming practices to produce good products.

Strategically the Milling company will be located along the Railway from Nakuru To Eldoret at a trading Center called Flax. This is a perfect location if in the future the market can be reached in Eldoret and Nakuru with the use of train hence less costly and reliable for the company.

Another good thing that attracts the farmers is that they can carry their maize product from the farm straight to the Milling company hence the middle men and cartels to hoard maize and reduce farmers income is removed.

The heavy population can also buy straight from the Company and hence retailers are removed from the equation shielding the farmer from price raises to generate capital for retailers and business people alike.

CONCLUSION AND PERSUASION

I would want to involve all the stake holders in realization of this idea and be able to bring change in my community and the country at large.

The land for the industry will be leased but depending of the stakeholders participation the land can be bought if the capital generated is enough.

I would love to see the industry come to life and provide the commodity with vision to expand and grow big beyond its borders.

The skill force is readily available including me I have a skills set in programming with computer networking and automation of processes.
